Community Guidelines & Safety
Last updated: April 22, 2026
English Group Chat is a moderated English conversation community for people who want to practice, learn, make friends, and speak with more confidence. These guidelines help keep the group useful, respectful, and safe for members from different countries, cultures, ages, and English levels.
By joining or participating, you agree to follow these Community Guidelines, our Terms of Service, and any instructions shared by admins inside the group. These standards apply in the main chat, voice notes, calls, replies, reactions, usernames, profile photos, and any direct messages connected to your participation in the community.
1. Use English as the Shared Language
The group uses English as the shared language so everyone can participate. Short clarifying translations, pronunciation notes, or vocabulary explanations are welcome when they help someone learn, but regular conversation should stay in English.
- Keep public messages, questions, and voice notes primarily in English.
- Use simple English when the topic is difficult so more members can follow.
- Avoid excluding others with long side conversations in another language.
2. Respect Every Member
- No harassment, bullying, intimidation, threats, or personal attacks.
- No hate speech, slurs, or degrading comments about nationality, race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, age, or English ability.
- No mocking people for mistakes. Corrections should be kind, helpful, and welcome.
- Disagreement is allowed. Disrespect is not.
Members come from many backgrounds and may have different accents, levels of fluency, and cultural assumptions. Give people room to learn. If a conversation becomes tense, slow down, clarify your meaning, or let an admin step in.
3. Practice Constructively
The community works best when members help each other improve without turning every message into a public lesson. Offer corrections when someone asks, when the correction is clearly useful, or when you can do it briefly and kindly.
- Do not shame, rank, or pressure members based on grammar, accent, speed, or confidence.
- Do not dominate the chat with repeated tests, quizzes, voice requests, or copy-pasted prompts.
- When giving feedback, explain the improvement rather than only pointing out the error.
- When receiving feedback, assume good intent unless the behavior becomes rude or targeted.
4. No Spam, Promotions, or Scams
- No repeated messages, mass forwards, chain messages, or low-effort flooding.
- No unsolicited advertising, affiliate links, referral links, crypto offers, investment pitches, job scams, or get-rich-quick claims.
- No selling, recruiting, or collecting leads from members without admin approval.
- No bots, scraping, fake accounts, or automated posting.
Helpful resources are welcome when they fit the conversation. The problem is using the group as an audience to harvest attention, clicks, money, phone numbers, followers, or leads.
5. No Adult, Dating, or Sexual Content
This is not a dating service and not an adult community. Sexual content, NSFW media, flirting campaigns, explicit jokes, romantic solicitation, and unwanted attention are not allowed. Members who use the group to pursue dating or sexual conversations may be removed.
- Do not ask members for romantic, sexual, or private photos.
- Do not comment on another member's body, appearance, relationship status, or desirability.
- Do not move a conversation into private messages for dating, flirting, or sexual discussion.
6. No Unsolicited Direct Messages
Do not privately message another member unless they clearly invite you to do so. If someone asks you to stop contacting them, stop immediately. Screenshots of unwanted DMs can be sent to admins or support for review.
A public reply in the group does not automatically mean someone wants private contact. If you need to continue a learning conversation privately, ask clearly in the group first and respect the answer.
7. Protect Member Privacy
- Do not copy, publish, sell, or share member phone numbers, messages, screenshots, profiles, invite links, or personal details without consent.
- Do not add members to other groups or mailing lists without permission.
- Do not record, archive, or redistribute group conversations outside the community.
- Do not pressure members to reveal their location, workplace, school, identity documents, financial details, or private social accounts.
WhatsApp may show your phone number and profile information to other group members. By joining, you understand this platform limitation and agree to respect the privacy of others.
8. Keep Content Legal and Safe
Do not post illegal content, instructions for wrongdoing, malware, stolen data, violent threats, regulated goods, or anything that puts members, admins, or the platform at risk. We may remove content or members when safety, legal compliance, or platform rules require it.
- No impersonation, fake admin claims, forged screenshots, or misleading payment requests.
- No content that encourages self-harm, violence, exploitation, or targeted abuse.
- No requests to evade WhatsApp rules, payment protections, identity checks, or legal requirements.
9. Keep the Group Useful
A good conversation community needs room for casual talk, but it should still feel worth opening. Share messages that invite real conversation, help members practice English, or add value to the current topic.
- Avoid flooding the chat with one-word replies, repeated greetings, unrelated media, or large forwards.
- Do not derail serious discussions with arguments, insults, or intentionally provocative content.
- Do not pressure admins or members to answer instantly. People participate across time zones.
10. Admins and Moderation
Admins may warn, mute, remove, or block members who violate these guidelines, our Terms of Service, WhatsApp policies, or applicable law. Serious violations may lead to immediate removal without a warning. Examples include harassment, spam, hate speech, sexual content, privacy violations, fraud, threats, or misuse of invite links.
Moderation decisions are based on context, severity, prior behavior, and the risk to other members. Admins may also close a discussion, delete an invite link, change group settings, or move members between related groups to protect quality and safety.
11. Warnings, Removal, and Refunds
For minor issues, admins may give a reminder or warning. For serious or repeated violations, we may remove a member immediately. Removed members may also be blocked from rejoining other English Group Chat communities.
Removal for rule violations does not guarantee a refund. Refund eligibility is handled under our Refund Policy, and access may be denied when a member has misused the group, harmed other members, or broken these guidelines.
12. Reporting Problems
If you see a rule violation or feel unsafe, contact an admin inside the group or email support@englishgroupchat.com. Include a short explanation and screenshots when possible. We review reports as quickly as we can and take action based on the situation.
Please do not start public arguments about suspected rule violations. Report the issue, preserve relevant screenshots, and let admins review it. False or malicious reports may also lead to moderation action.
13. Platform Limitations
English Group Chat operates on WhatsApp and depends on WhatsApp features, limits, outages, account rules, and privacy behavior. We cannot hide phone numbers from other WhatsApp group members, guarantee uninterrupted platform access, or control every action taken by members outside the group.
We do our best to moderate responsibly, but no online community can promise constant review or perfect safety. Your participation is voluntary, and you should use judgment before sharing personal information or continuing private conversations.
14. Updates to These Guidelines
We may update these guidelines as the community grows or as safety needs change. Continued participation after an update means you agree to follow the latest version.
